Gilbert + Tobin has a dedicated pro bono team, managed by two pro bono partners. Every lawyer in the firm works on pro bono projects as well. This is highly encouraged and ever incentivised, because employees who do more than 50 pro bono hours in a year do into a ballot to win a trip to Arnhem Land to engage in a cultural learning experience. I have been able to work on several pro bono projects since starting.

There are plenty of CSR initiatives the firm runs and allows its employees to get involved in - for example, I have helped as a mentor in the Australian Business and Community Network's program to encourage school students to consider STEM subjects and careers that has taken place at my employer's office
I have participated in some interesting and rewarding CSR programs, including one partnership with ABCN that resulted directly from one of the partners who was committed to making a difference in certain disadvantaged high schools

I have been involved in two Australian Business and Community (ABCN) Mentoring programs, which involve regular mentoring sessions with high school students from less privileged backgrounds. The firm welcomes students into the offices and makes an effort to ensure the experience is positive for these students.
