What is my job about?
A business analyst bridges the gap between IT and business. Essentially, this involves analyzing, assessing, and determining requirements and providing analytical feedback to our teams, leaders and clients. We are there to improve processes, resolve business problems and to ensure our client’s needs are met.
What’s your background?
I have a non-technical background. At university, I studied for the purpose to understand people. Before I worked at DXC I was a UAT tester for a company called Sportsgrounds Ltd. But prior to that I worked in retail, hospitality, childcare and agriculture.
Could someone with a different background do your job?
I truly believe anyone can work in IT – whether technical or not-technical. The IT sector is always changing and there are so many different pathways to develop your career. The best thing to do is to research and understand your role/responsibility, and then apply your strengths into this area.
What’s the coolest thing about your job?
The people. At DXC you are always working with a diverse group of people who all have different ways of thinking, experiences, knowledge, and skills. They push you to be your best, they encourage you to improve, they support your abilities and build engagement.
What are the limitations to your job?
With any role there are limitations i.e. your role requires you to perform specific tasks and responsibilities daily. But I wouldn’t say you are limited to what you can do. I have found that on my account if you express interest in trying something new or wish to explore different areas of work, our leaders make sure you get the opportunity to try it.
