Application Process & Interviews at Clyde & Co

The interview process is similar to many other firms. There are two main stages, being an informal telephone conversation and a formal interview with partners.

Although I was a paralegal prior to becoming a grad, I was had to participate in the same interview process as external applicants. The first stage was applying to HR by providing CV and academic statement, Expression of Interest Form and internal feedback from my colleagues. The second stage was an interview stage with two partners and HR. The final stage was an offer.

To get a summer clerkship, you submit your covering letter and CV. Then there are two interviews. I appreciate that the process was streamlined and didn't involve unnecessary psychometric testing.

In my interview I was taken through my resume and asked specific questions relating to my experience and qualifications

My previous legal experience and studies, extra-curricular, why I wanted to work at Clyde & Co, my interest in the various sectors of the firm.

It was more of a conversation between myself and the interviewers about my experiences, the firm, and the work they did.

Know the company and be honest about what interests you

Be yourself and try to stand out by offering something that others don't have. Try and stay calm and remember that the people interviewing you are humans too!

Be Yourself and know your CV well! Speak about your interests both inside and outside of the law. Clyde's generally looks for students with a holistic educational background.
