Where do you work?
Based at the Southbank office, although I am out and about most of the time as my role is based on the road.
What’s your job about?
I am currently working as a Business Development Executive (BDE) in National Accounts. Essentially, I drive to various Liquorland, BWS, ALH pubs and Dan Murphy stores engaging with store managers and ensuring Asahi Beverages products are represented as best as they can be.
What's your background?
I studied a Bachelor of Business at Monash University, where I majored in Marketing and Management. While I was studying, I also had a part time job working as a Marketing Assistant at an IT company, where I learnt how to create websites and use Google Adwords. After I graduated, I spent three and a half months travelling the world, before commencing my career with Asahi Beverages.
What's the coolest thing about being a Asahi Beverages Graduate?
The people and culture of the company are what make it a great place to work! Everyone is really supportive and, being a meritocratic company means there are plenty of opportunities to progress at a pace which suits your talent.
Being a Grad, there has been a number of opportunities to get a better understanding of other functions/ areas through projects outside of our everyday role. It’s also pretty cool to work for a beer company – definitely more exciting than something like insurance!
What are the challenges you face in your job?
Being in a role where you are speaking to a wide array of managers from all walks of life means that people aren’t always happy to see you and you won’t naturally get along well with everyone. Managing difficult customers is something which comes with the job.
As I cover a distance from Noble Park to Sorrento, time management is also a challenge. You need to be very organised and prepared in order to get projects, admin and customer calls done within a typical work day.
